This volume collects the contributions presented in commemoration of the conference held in Empoli 1260, held after the defeat of the Florentines in battle, which saw the triumph of the Ghibellines Guelphs of Florence on opponents. It was in this context that, according to Dante, and according to tradition, Farinata degli Uberti opposed the proposal to destroy Florence, advanced by the other leaders of the Ghibelline faction, thereby acquiring the right to immortality.
