"Fourteen year-old Charlotte Potts is training for the national snowboard championships and getting along surprisingly well with her long-lost father, Larry, a former logger with a lucky scar. When Larry signs a petition to stop a condominium development and loses his job at Timberbowl, the local ski area, Charlotte loses her place on the snowboarding team.
