Christopher Collier

About this book

Christopher Collier was born in New York City in 1930. He attended Clark University where he earned his B.A. and he received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. He has taught school in Connecticut and at Teachers College, Columbia University. He is Professor emeritus of American History at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He was the official Connecticut State Historian (1984-2004). His works include books for children such as My Brother Sam Is Dead (1974), which deals with the American Revolution, and was awarded a Newbery Honor, Jump Ship to Freedom (1981) and six other historical novels written with his brother James and books for adults: Roger Sherman's Connecticut: Yankee Politics and the American Revolution, which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize; Decision in Philadelphia (with James Lincoln Collier); and "All Politics Is Local" about Connecticut's role in the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
