Jim Hensley is a master at allowing an object to be itself and trusting it to stand alone and show its loveliness with just the simplest help from him. These works were done quickly. Not labored over. You see his hand moving. You can see with his eyes. These were not created for galleries. They were meant for immediate, casual, free sharing with the world. Here, Jim invites the world to share his internal visual conversation. Jim's artist's hand shows everywhere in this set, his confidence in simplicity, his ability to breathe life into a few lines. And then once they are alive, he gave them personality and purpose. This set of work as a whole may be taken as a serious artistic statement, but each one is lightly drawn, playful in nature, and meant, above all, to be fun.
