Historia de la caricatura en Colombia
Historia de la caricatura en Colombia
About this book
The editorial project comprising caricatures and humor cartoons, in different formats that recall the last 200 years of history of Colombia as a nation, is the outcome of a monumental research that Beatriz González began in 1985, one of the most recognized and respected contemporary Colombian artists, when a happy coincidence "led her to combine studies of 19th-century art in the country and the history of cartooning, a subject so despised by traditional historians." It is also accompanied by some texts by other authors made especially for this edition. "It is the history of how Colombian cartoonists -with art, intelligence, and lucidity- have found in their humor not only as a flashlight pointing to injustices, but a form of denunciation and unmasking of the sins we have committed as a society since we are a nation. But it's also the discovery of hundreds of authors who have embodied their original thinking in images and how these images -in a thousand and one techniques ranging from drawing, engraving, oil to tv shows, tweeter, or standup comedy- often highlight the same crime or social or political corruption that has been repeated for 200 years" --publisher.
