About this book
Presents approximately 200 nineteenth- and early twentieth-century photographs of ancient Greek and Roman architecture, focusing on Greece, Asia Minor, the Aegean islands, Cyprus, South Italy, and Sicily, and belonging to the Getty Research Institute's Gary Edwards Collection. The majority of the photographs are of Athens, particularly the Athenian Acropolis. In addition, separate pages of this Web site are devoted to ancient monuments elsewhere in Athens, selected site views in Greece and throughout the Mediterranean, and ancient sculpture. Each page is organized according to location and monument.
