The Arthropoda include many species of Insecta such as mosquitoes that transmit viral, bacterial and other diseases of major importance to man and animals including, for example, yellow fever and malaria. Other arthropods such as the Arachnida are also of importance through their role as disease vectors or by causing envenomation.
