Receiving home for children
About this book
"The central idea of a "receiving home" is that children who are now being sent directly to individual state institutions should first be cleared through a central agency, where each case would receive careful study and diagnosis to determine proper disposition of the case to the maximum advantage to the child and to the state. The essential of the plan is adequate diagnosis and recommendation of treatment for each child after as complete an examination as may be necessary by a competent staff of persons specializing in child problems. This would involve not only an examination of physical, mental, and emotional characteristics of each child, but also an analysis of the home environment and the fundamental factors underlying the child's difficulties"--Page vii.
