Northanger Abbey. Persuasion
Northanger Abbey. Persuasion
This issue of Jane Austen's posthumously published novels Northanger Abbey and Persuasion is one of few surviving copies of the Chapman and Hall yellow-back. Yellow-backs were published in Britain in the late-nineteenth century and were cheap volumes aimed at a popular audience. This volume was published in London in 1872. Yellow-back editions of Austen played a significant role in bringing her work to a wider audience, making her one of the most popular and widely read authors of the nineteenth century. The Monash copy contains the signature: Paul Evans, 24th July 1874. https://repository.monash.edu/items/show/69623 https://repository.monash.edu/files//original/568856cf4feef60c823f3aae64c123bd.pdf
