The Illuminati is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious. Historically, the name usually refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on 1 May 1776 in the Electorate of Bavaria. The society's stated goals were to oppose superstition, obscurantism, religious influence over public life, and abuses of state power by monarchs. "The order of the day", they wrote in their general statutes, "is to put an end to the machinations of the purveyors of injustice, to control them without dominating them."

Kari Lake Halperin is an American political figure and former television news anchor serving as the senior advisor to the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) since March 2025. Previously, she served as deputy chief executive and acting chief executive of USAGM from July to November 2025; her appointment and tenure were later ruled illegal by a federal judge, voiding her acts as chief executive. She is a member of the Republican Party, and was its nominee in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election and in the 2024 United States Senate election in Arizona.
