Master Commander Carter Rose has always been one step behind the Aterniens, but now it is time to take the fight back to his enemy. His plan necessitates him finding the mastermind of the Longsword officer program – a man who has not been seen in nearly a century. Then out-of-the-blue, Rose receives word from Brodie Kaur, his former Master-at-arms, and an augmented soldier whom he could sorely use in the fight ahead. The problem is he’s supposed to be dead. Travelling to Venture Terminal, a vast space station that has fallen to lawlessness, Rose must fight to contend not with criminal gangs, but with turncoat former Longsword officers who are out for his blood. But with the help of a mysterious hooded figure, Rose and his crew uncover another Aternien plot, this time to wipe out the Union homeworld itself - Terra Prime. A final conflict leads to a terrible loss, but also a new hope – one that could finally help Master Commander Rose turn the tide of the war.
