Born in Bognor Regis UK. Went to sea as navigating officer and then entered university (Newcastle Medical School, Cambridge and Yale Medical School) and carried out research in biophysics of skeletal muscle for 20 years. Started Keepdate Publishing and currently skipper of 16m commercial yacht off west coast of Scotland. Author of 10 books and a play.
