Biography
Stuart R. Porter, born in Robesonia, Pennsylvania, is Professor Emeritus in the Mathematics Department at Monroe Community College, Rochester, New York, where he taught from 1963 to 1991. He co-authored two college mathematics textbooks with Allen R. Angel, one of which had six editions. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pennsylvania; and his Master's Degree from Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. He continued to support and promote mathematics education at Monroe Community College, where he and his wife established the Stuart R. Porter & Joyce R. Porter Endowed Scholarship. In recognition of outstanding achievement in mathematics, the Mathematics Department will grant an award of up to $2,000 to students at Monroe Community College.
