Biography
Patricia Graber O'Brien, APRN-BC, MA, MSN, retired from Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute in 1993, and continued to teach part-time at the College of Nursing at the University of New Mexico. She was also employed part-time as a clinical research coordinator at Lovelace Scientific Resources in Albuquerque. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Kansas; a Master of Arts degree in adult education from the University of New Mexico; and a Master of Science degree in nursing with majors in medical-surgical nursing and nursing administration from the University of Texas at El Paso. During her nursing career, she worked in medical-surgical nursing and home health care, but most of her experience was in nursing education. She was a certified clinical nurse specialist in medical-surgical nursing. She directed and taught in nursing programs of all levels of basic nursing preparation for more than 30 years. Her primary interests in teaching included nursing process, pharmacology, and metabolic problems.
