Biography
Dr. Charles Chapin received his degree in Mining Geology from the Colorado School of Mines in 1954. In 1965, he received a D.Sc. in Geology and Chemistry from the Colorado School of Mines. In 1980 he received the Van Diest Gold Medal for Research from the Colorado School of Mines. In 1985 he served for one year as a Distinguished Lecturer for the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. In 1988 he received the Distinguished Research Award from New Mexico Tech. In 1999 he received the Distinguished Achievement Medal from the Colorado School of Mines. He is currently
Emeritus Director and State Geologist for the New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources.
