The story
Who Agron is
Agron Shehu was born in Albania and spent his working life as a petroleum engineer, from the deserts of Libya to the landscapes of Canada. Under that career he kept asking where consciousness goes when the body can no longer carry it. The PostHuman Saga is the fifteen-year answer: philosophical science fiction that reasons from a hard premise, that the future of mind in the cosmos is not human but post-human. He writes from Halifax, Nova Scotia. On the page he is A.Z. Shehu; in person, Agron.
The book
Humans in SpaceTime… What a Shock is Book One of The PostHuman Saga. Higgs, a human evaluation-stage mind, decides feeling is the flaw in the species and leaves the body as a wave of pure thought. Twenty-four thousand light-years away, Quark has been waiting. Aboard Contact-Us they watch Earth’s history run forward while Proton’s civilization rewinds, with Ardi (a revived Ardipithecus) as humanity’s ancestral mirror. For readers of Ted Chiang, Stanisław Lem, and Olaf Stapledon: intellect versus emotion, argued at civilizational scale.
The Lex partnership
Agron came for a Studio scored production of the whole book, not a demo reel. We produced the prologue, forty-one chapters, and epilogue as a single-narrator scored audiobook through PROSE: gravelly American read, Epidemic music and ambience under the voice, surgical retakes where whisper QA flagged a miss. The finished pack shipped July 2026.

How it was made
PROSE, not raw TTS
Humans in SpaceTime was produced on PROSE, Lex’s performance layer for long-form narration. Raw engine output drifts at chapter joins and thins on dialogue. PROSE holds one continuous performance across nearly ten hours: steady register, acted dialogue, seam-checked joins, and human QA before anything ships. That is why chapter forty-one still sounds like the same narrator as the prologue.
Casting
Agron’s brief was gravelly American male, thriller undertone. We auditioned designed voices, theatrical candidates, and a cross-provider shortlist. The locked read is brooding, weathered, dark enough for Higgs without tipping into radio-drama. Single-narrator performed mode. Higgs, Quark, and the record’s voices stay inside one continuous read; character distinction comes from tempo and affect, not cast swaps.
Score as seasoning
Narration is the product. Sparse Epidemic beds, void and stars ambience, and one-shot cues sit low in the mix. Wall-to-wall music is out. Silence is a valid cue. The Instant Sun mushrooms, Ardi’s death, Alexandria burning: music arrives for the beat, then gets out of the way.
Surgical fixes, not re-renders
Broad chapter regenerations were the biggest regressions. Whisper QA plus isolated-clip verification caught word misses (“insight” for “inside,” dropped Roman numerals, name slips on Hitt). Micro-retakes were spliced sample-accurately so the PROSE register stayed continuous across the book.
